Gavaskar's Indian record equals Tendulkar's

Sachin Tulkar has broken Sunil Gavaskar’s record in first-class centuries. Tendulkar, who made an Indian debut in 1988 made a century during the first innings at Wankhede Stadium's Irani Cup. He now has thirty-two centuries and an unprecedented run rate. Tendulkar played more Tests then Gavaskar, scoring fifty-two hundreds.

Sunil Gavaskar opposed the colonial period outspokenly. He publicly expressed his views against the colonial system, and his career was defined by his defiance. He worked tirelessly to bring Indian cricket up to the level of the best. He was a great example for the game's importance. However, he was also controversial.
