cricket scores bbc sport

South Africa was banned in international cricket between 1970 and 1991. However, the country gradually improved its provincial teams until it was able make its return in 1991. The match between South Africa (and England) started well, but rain stopped play before the 43rd run. South Africa had to score 22 runs from 13 balls in order for them to win. But they couldn't reach their target. They were bowled out in the final for 21 runs by one ball and lost by 19 runs.

The number of team members

South Africa's Test cricket squad has been through a transition phase. Six of the players are still to play Test matches. Three fast-bowlers have been added to the squad. Boxing Day will mark the beginning of the first Test in Centurion. The second Test takes place between January 3-7 in Johannesburg. The third Test will be at Newlands Cape Town.

Lord's

South Africa's second day was uneventful after the first Test at Lord's. Proteas' cricketers scored a remarkable 326 for nine in their opening innings. However, the Proteas wicket-keepers kept the hosts down to 149 overs. Kagiso Rabada took five wickets in the first innings, underlining his class. Keshav Maharaj and Marco Jansen each made 73 runs. Elgar was very pleased with his team's performance, and thanked all of them for their great efforts.

Future of the Team

The future for South Africa's Test cricket could be in danger. The ICC has decided to cancel three Tests and South Africa will no longer be playing a three-Test series during the 2023-2025 World T20 Championship. The move was intended to save the ICC money but South Africa's players have voiced their disapproval.

Taylor's South Africa test cricket career

Ross Taylor's South Africa Test career was marred in controversy. In his debut, Taylor was hit on the shoulder with Makhaya Nutini's bat, and verbally abuse was applied to him. But the experience provided by playing test cricket in South Africa proved invaluable, and his work ethic has continued to serve him well throughout his career.
