The ICC World Test Championship, a league competition for Test cricket players, is introduced on August 1, 2019. It was inaugurated on 1 Aug 2019 and is meant to be the top cricket tournament worldwide. There have been many improvements to the world championship test tournament. The first is the overhaul of Points.
In 2023, Timeless Test will take place at the Oval
One of the most important cricket matches will return to the Oval. The Oval was the home of the Ashes, 1880. The Oval houses the world's top Test team. The Oval will host 2023's World Test Championship Final. The match will be played before the five-match Ashes series.

Test cricket has undergone a major change. Tests will be played over a longer period of time. This format allows for matches to be played until one side wins or the match draws. This means that teams can't play defensively to win a draw. Delays and bad weather will not impact the match's outcome.
Points system overhauled
After much criticism of the ICC's first cycle, the World Test Championship points program has undergone a significant overhaul. The system that was in place before it was disorganised and too complex was criticized. New system will reward wins and punish those who lose based upon percentages won, not series. These changes will be permanent, and will be in effect for the next cycle.
The August launch of the World Test Championship points system has been announced. As per the new rules, a team will get a certain percentage of points for winning a game, and will be ranked accordingly. This system will be used for the bi-lateral series which began in 2021, 2023.
Future editions are planned at these venues
The International Cricket Council (ICC), has announced the venues and dates for the future World Test Championship finals. The Oval in London will host 2023's final, while Lord's will host 2025's final. Lord's already hosted the inaugural World Test Championship in 2020.

The Oval is a long-held possibility for hosting the World Test Championship finals. However, last year's match was played at the bio-secure Ageas Bowl because the Oval was incompatible with the Covid-19 pandemic. Lord's commercial contracts were also considered to be problematic. The ICC needs a clean environment. If Lord's is not available, Surrey could be an alternative.
