This is behind only Sir Donald Bradman who scored 270 against England between 1936 and 1937. Lara, due to a sponsorship dispute with Digicel the Cricket Board's main sponsors, declined to play in the West Indies Tests in March 2005. Lara was chosen for the first Test match against South Africa.

Brian Lara is a Trinidadian cricketer. He was born 2 May 1969. His parents are Bunty and Pearl Lara. He is their eldest son. His parents took him to Harvard Coaching Clinic when he was six years old. This taught him how to hit the ball correctly. Brian also went to the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic primary school and San Juan Secondary School. He was also in a relationship with Miss Scotland Jams, Bowers, during his schooling.

Brian Lara has 2 daughters. In 1996, he gave birth to his first child Sydney. Leasel Rovedas (Trinia's journalist and model) is his bride. Sydney is the name of his daughter. It was here that Lara scored his first Test hundred. His second daughter Tyla was his first child. Both his parents died of cancer and heart attack respectively.
